about

What do you do when you feel as though hip-hop listeners have been "fooled" into believing that they are listening to "good" or "quality" music? You give them FLS GLD, a short and sweet EP of seven lyrical and soulful tunes from Jean P The MC and Mydus, released on Gld Mnd Music, to remind them of what true hip hop not only sounds, but feels like.

If you had a treasure map and X marked the spot, that is where you would
find this project. The duo has taken the traditional meaning of the term
"fools gold" and flipped it into "finding light after being in the dark for
too long". Mydus' passionate production and Jean's imaged lyricism combines to make FLS GLD worth the listen.

On "Watching Me", Jean P The MC graphically describes a nightmare, "Turn the lights on in the crib, and I still see the reaper on my roof". You hear him calling out to anyone for some type of peace of mind and a good night's rest.

"We really put our all into giving the fans some quality music and creating a relatable body of work," Jean P The MC says. "We literally created another world, from the imaginary radio station to the story about the felon coming home from prison. The beats are intoxicating, you can ride to it, and you can play it anytime, anywhere. The ultimate goal was to make sure the people would not stop playing it."

The concepts are just as important as the music. Jean and his ability to tell a story keeps you coming back for more. This is the reason his fan base cherishes every project he releases. With flows about making amends with a sick parent, finally getting alone time with a special lady, and kicking back at a party after a long week, P is definitely an artist for the people.

Miami producer and engineer Ivan "Mydus" Rodriguez makes a statement with his "GLD MND" sound. Imagine Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's understudies, who occasionally took notes from the pages of People Under the Stairs, EPMD, Gang Starr, & various blaxploitation films; that equals FLS GLD. It's not a mystery as to why Mydus is on of the most sought after producers in Miami's hip-hop scene.

This is not the first time the two have collaborated. The majority of Jean's debut "Hometown Hero" was produced by Mydus and received positive reviews.

FLS GLD is an album that shows the importance of the emcee/producer projects. If you feel you have been fooled into today's so-called hip-hop, support this gem and keep an eye out for Jean P The MC X Mydus.
